Paloma On Design
My design is meant to capture the spirit of a gathering and to inspire those in attendance to feel deeply present in its meaning. You should walk into a space and immediately know who or what we are celebrating, and how important this moment is.
A wedding, for instance, begins and ends with two people, whose story should be told through every detail - through the types of flowers selected, to the style in which they are arranged, to the vessels in which they are presented. Even the choice of candle holder and candle color is part of the story of two threads coming together.
To do this right, I have to know a bit about who you are over a call or video. Then, we can begin a conversation about what you're imagining, and find out how you and your aesthetics are connected. Sometimes it's obvious, and sometimes it's a process of discovery for us all.
From there, I create a pdf presentation that includes mood boards, color swatches, and specific flower types, as well as a line item quote for you to review. To some degree, creating this overall vision is always a collaborative process, because it is very much informed by you and who you are, while I give it shape and cohesion. I bring a life time of artistic experience to the process, but ultimately, this is about you, and we want to be sure the design properly represents you.
And while all of this sounds very serious, it's really about having fun. This is a celebration! So I guarantee we will laugh as we work together.

How I Got Here
I studied film in college, followed my dream of working in film, started out in sound editing, and went into picture editing in New York City. I am incredibly grateful for the career I had - I worked with some of the industry's finest editors, directors, and producers, and I still get a real kick out of seeing my name roll up the credits. (You can even check out my IMDB page). I was on an upward path, but as it happens to many once they're well on their way, I realized it wasn't for me.
I met my husband and moved back upstate to my home area in 2016. There, I made and sold jewelry, while working for a floral designer in Kingston, NY. I was thrilled with both jewelry and floral design - two beautiful dream jobs, where I got to be creative every day. As I flourished and became a leader within my floral position, my own weddings and events began to trickle in, (which I did under the pseudonym Djuna Vine). In 2024 I was able to make Paloma Mele Studio my sole focus.
I have designed and executed events for 9 years now and made jewelry for over 20 years. While I never expected to be either of these things, this has been a immensely satisfying path to walk, where I get to express both the light and dark, romantic and strange sides of my creativity. With this and the birth of my son in 2021, I have never been happier.
